Type 1/2.8, 8.46 MP CMOS color image sensor for high-resolution security, FA and industrial cameras.

The Sony IMX715-AAQR1 is a Type 1/2.8, 8.46 MP CMOS image sensor designed for security cameras, FA cameras and industrial cameras. Its 3864 × 2192 effective-pixel array supports 4K recording resolution, while the electronic shutter provides variable charge-integration time for controlled exposure settings.
The sensor’s technical identity is defined by its combination of 1.45 µm square pixels, RGB primary-color mosaic filters, HDR functionality and multiple readout options. Sony specifies high sensitivity, low dark current and no smear for this architecture. All-pixel operation reaches 90.9 frame/s at 10-bit output, while 12-bit all-pixel operation reaches 60.3 frame/s. This gives design teams a documented choice between output precision and frame rate.
CSI-2 serial output supports two- or four-lane configurations and RAW10 or RAW12 data. All-pixel scan, 2/2-line binning, window cropping, and normal or inverted readout provide defined acquisition options for different recording formats and image areas. Sony also identifies low power consumption for the IMX715-AAQR1 with its triple-supply configuration.
The IMX715-AAQR1 is intended for color-camera designs requiring 4K recording pixels, HDR functionality and selectable sensor readout modes. Its all-pixel scan, 2/2-line binning and window-cropping options give R&D teams defined modes to assess when setting resolution and image area. CSI-2 output with RAW10 or RAW12 formats is also relevant when defining the host-camera architecture.
