Microdisplays for High-Precision Visual Systems

Ultra-compact, high-resolution displays for AR, VR, EVF, and optical imaging applications.

Microdisplays are ultra-compact display devices designed for systems where high resolution, brightness, and optical precision are required within a very small form factor.

They are widely used in electronic viewfinders (EVF), augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR), medical and industrial optics, where image clarity and pixel density are critical. Compared to conventional displays, microdisplays offer higher pixel density, lower power consumption, and better integration into optical systems, enabling lightweight and high-performance designs.

Sony - OLED Microdisplays (MOLED)

Optimal solution for ultra-compact, high-resolution EVF and near-eye applications

Technology overview

Sony microdisplays are based on OLED (Organic Light-Emitting Diode) technology, delivering high contrast, fast response time, and excellent image quality. By using a monocrystalline silicon backplane, they achieve ultra-high resolution of around 4,000 ppi, enabling significantly higher pixel density than LTPS OLEDs. This makes them ideal for ultra-compact, high-resolution applications such as advanced EVF and near-eye displays.

Key Benefits

OLED microdisplays emit light at the pixel level, enabling:
