IMX925 & IMX926: Even higher speed with framerate boost mode

Sony’s IMX925 and IMX926 sensors can now run even faster thanks to a new Frame Rate Boost Mode, which adjusts internal pixel timing to push FPS higher.

The IMX925 (24.55 MP) and IMX926 (12.41 MP) are Global Shutter sensors featuring 2.74 µm square pixels. To achieve these speeds, some internal pixel operations are altered, resulting in higher FPS with a minor trade-off in image quality—a fair exchange for many high-speed applications.

How Much Faster?

Sensor ROI [lines] Normal Mode (Reference) Framerate Boost Mode Gain
IMX925 All Pixels (4608) 394.1 FPS 526.8 FPS +33.6%
640 2187.8 FPS 3565.2 FPS +62.9%
32 7226.5 FPS 30661.4 FPS +324.3%
IMX926 All Pixels (3008) 588.8 FPS 802.6 FPS +36.3%
640 2187.8 FPS 3565.2 FPS +62.9%
32 7226.5 FPS 30661.4 FPS +324.3%

Typical Applications:

  • High-speed industrial inspection: 2D/3D AOI, electronics, PCB, and precision parts.
  • Structured light & laser triangulation: Accurate 3D measurement and profiling.
  • Robotics & automation: Fast, distortion-free vision for real-time guidance.
  • Volumetric and motion capture: VR/AR and high-speed motion analysis.

At RESTAR FRAMOS, we’re working to optimize these configurations so users can maximize their performance.
