It uses a 2.0 \u03bcm square-pixel array and STARVIS 2 back-illuminated pixel technology. The sensor is designed for colour image capture in visible-light and near-infrared regions.<\/p>\n<p>Its defining technical characteristic is the combination of STARVIS 2 with Digital overlap HDR and Clear HDR functions. Sony specifies that STARVIS 2 provides a dynamic range more than 8 dB wider than STARVIS at the same pixel size in a single exposure. This capability is complemented by HDR functions intended for scenes containing substantial brightness differences.<\/p>\n<p>The IMX838-AQR1 supports 3840 \u00d7 2160 recommended recording pixels in all-pixel scan mode, with maximum readout rates of 60 frame\/s at 12-bit output and 72 frame\/s at 10-bit output. RAW10 and RAW12 data are transferred through a CSI-2 serial interface.<\/p>\n<p>For camera-system design, the sensor provides all-pixel scan, horizontal and vertical 2\/2-line binning, and window-cropping modes.
