Sony Pregius IMX304LQR-C Color Image Sensor Overview

Sony Pregius IMX304LQR-C is a Type 1.1, 12.37 MP colour CMOS image sensor intended for FA and ITS cameras. The 17.6 mm-diagonal sensor uses a 3.45 µm square-pixel array and provides a recommended all-pixel recording format of 4096 × 3000 pixels for high-resolution colour acquisition.

Its individual technical identity is defined by Pregius global-shutter technology combined with a colour pixel array. Pregius is a global-shutter pixel technology for active-pixel CMOS sensors that adopts a low-noise CCD structure to support high-quality imaging. The global shutter and variable charge-integration time provide an exposure architecture suited to controlled camera acquisition.

In all-pixel scan mode, IMX304LQR-C operates at up to 23.4 frame/s with 12-bit conversion. The sensor also provides vertical and horizontal 1/2 subsampling, delivering a recommended 2048 × 1500-pixel output at 46.3 frame/s, and ROI mode for selecting a required readout area. These options help camera developers configure output format around the imaging task rather than operating only at the full sensor format.

CDS, programmable analogue gain, digital gain, and low-voltage LVDS DDR serial output are integrated on the device. Four- or eight-channel LVDS operation supports interface configuration, while the documented low-power, high-sensitivity, low-dark-current, and low-PLS characteristics support use in colour industrial and transport imaging cameras.

IMX304LQR-C Applications

IMX304LQR-C supports colour imaging systems requiring Type 1.1 optics, 12.37 MP resolution, global-shutter exposure, and variable integration time. The documented FA and ITS camera applications make it relevant where detailed colour acquisition and selectable full-resolution, subsampled, or region-of-interest readout modes are required.
