Product Overview

The IMX662-AAQR-C is a Type 1/2.8, 2.12 MP STARVIS 2 CMOS image sensor for colour security cameras. Its 1920 × 1080 recommended recording format supports Full HD image capture, while its 2.9 μm square-pixel architecture combines this resolution with a compact optical format.

STARVIS 2 back-illuminated pixel technology is the sensor’s principal imaging characteristic. Sony specifies high picture quality in both visible-light and near-infrared regions, together with a dynamic range more than 8 dB wider than STARVIS sensors with the same pixel size in a single exposure. This makes the sensor relevant to security-camera designs operating across variable light levels.

The sensor provides both Digital Overlap HDR and Clear HDR. Clear HDR acquires signals at different gain levels rather than different exposure times. According to Sony’s comparison under complex lighting, this avoids the chromatic aberration associated with DOL HDR when imaging fast-moving targets.

All-pixel scan, horizontal/vertical 2/2-line binning and window-cropping modes provide options for configuring image readout. CSI-2 serial output supports RAW10 and RAW12 data, with two- or four-lane operation. In contrast with the IMX662-AAQR1-C, the IMX662-AAQR-C uses non-anti-reflective glass.

Product Applications

The IMX662-AAQR-C supports colour security-camera designs requiring Full HD acquisition under changing illumination. Its STARVIS 2 technology addresses visible-light and near-infrared imaging, while HDR functions support scenes containing bright and dark areas. Clear HDR is particularly relevant where moving subjects must be captured in complex lighting conditions. The compact Type 1/2.8 format supports space-conscious camera architectures.
