Produktübersicht

The Pyxalis GIGAPYX 4600 is a 46 MP Full Frame 35 mm BSI CMOS image sensor designed for high-resolution imaging at high acquisition rates.

The sensor brings together three characteristics that are usually traded off against each other: high resolution, very high speed and high sensitivity. With 8320 × 5456 active pixels on a 36.6 × 24.2 mm matrix, it delivers full-frame detail at up to 150 fps, while up to 90 dB linear intra-scene dynamic range with in-pixel true HDR allows bright and dark areas of the same scene to be captured in a single exposure.

High-sensitivity BSI pixel architecture

The 4.4 µm pixel uses Back-Side Illumination (BSI) together with Deep Trench Isolation, resulting in peak quantum efficiency above 84 % and ultra-low crosstalk between neighbouring pixels. Combined with a readout noise of 1.5 e- and a full well capacity greater than 50 ke-, this supports clean signal acquisition across a wide range of illumination conditions. Dark current is specified at 3.4 e-/s RMS at 29 °C. 2×2 binning is supported and is Bayer-compatible.

High-speed readout and acquisition control

The GIGAPYX 4600 reaches up to 150 fps in full frame and up to 200 fps in 8K with 12-bit acquisition and offers 12/13/14-bit ADC modes for applications that prioritise precision over speed. Six contexts are available for ROI and parameter settings, allowing acquisition configurations to be prepared in advance and switched during operation. Trigger, shutter and flash synchronisation I/O support integration into synchronised multi-camera and illumination systems.

As a rolling-shutter sensor, the GIGAPYX 4600 requires the usual consideration of line timing when imaging fast-moving objects or when the camera itself is in motion. Whether this is relevant depends on the motion characteristics and system requirements of the application.

System integration

For data transfer, the sensor provides 8 to 128 LVDS / Sub-LVDS data lanes at 840 Mbps, so bandwidth can be scaled to the requirements of the camera architecture. It is delivered in a ceramic µPGA package with 520 pins and consumes less than 4.1 W at full speed. The sensor is available in a monochrome version (without microlenses) or with a standard RGB Bayer colour filter array.

Space and radiation environments

The GIGAPYX 4600 is radiation tolerant and compatible with New Space applications and is offered in different space quality grades depending on the mission profile, supporting both commercial constellation programmes and more demanding mission requirements.

Produktanwendungen

The GIGAPYX 4600 is designed for applications where high spatial detail and fast acquisition have to be combined, and where scenes contain a wide range of light levels. Its full-frame format, high frame rate and wide dynamic range make it well suited for applications where high spatial detail is required and a single exposure needs to capture both bright highlights and dark image regions.

In aerial and space imaging, the combination of resolution, speed and radiation tolerance supports high-detail ground imaging from moving platforms. In professional video and cinematography, the full-frame format, in-pixel true HDR and high frame rates support high-quality capture with wide latitude. In industrial inspection, high resolution at high acquisition rates allows fine defects to be detected on fast-moving production lines.
